Sadly the MTA is almost completely done phasing out these old models, and they are being replaced with the new digital models.  The scrolls in the old models gave a lot of character to the trains.  You can still find trains with scrolls on a few lines including the 1,3 & 7.  Apparently the MTA feels that subway trains are not polluting the Ocean in any way; but creating coral reefs!  Photos taken by Stephen Mallon.
