Black Ski Mask – Issue 1
Opening our mailbox and finding awesome zines inside is basically one of our favorite things ever. So needless to say, we were pretty hype when we recently received Issue 1 of Black Ski Mask. Carefully curated and assembled by Max Mallender and Jason Hollis, Black Ski Mask showcases 40 pages of color photographs that run the gamut from painting freight trains and dodging security cameras to riding bicycles and strolling through the park. The minimalistic layout design gives the varying subject matter a cohesive feel, which makes it difficult to put this zine in a specific category: There’s graff content, but it’s not a graffiti zine by any means. There’s skateboards and after-parties, but it manages to steer clear of the “hipster” label. At the end of the day, we’re content to just call it really really good and recommend that you pick up a copy here.
